How can I give my account number for the transfer of the payment funds without it causing me harm now, or some nefarious actions in the future? Because of the scams, etc., taking place today I need an assurance from you as to how to protect myself.

It's nice of you to join us today, Donald.
We'd like to take this opportunity to let you know that we do not recommend sharing your account information with any individual. We encourage you to look here: http://bit.ly/1BdQMSy for details regarding potential Fraud Risks. If you still wish to proceed, feel free to take a look below for some options.
If the person is looking to deposit funds into your account by visiting a TD Store, an account number is needed for this transaction. However, a routing number is not needed.
If the person will be sending a Domestic Wire Transfer, you'll want to provide them with the following information:
Wire to: TD Bank, N.A. Wilmington, Delaware ABA: 0311-0126-6. Your complete name as it appears on your account along with your account number.
Please note, we do not process incoming Pay Upon Proper Identification (PUPID) wires and we return them to the sender. Also, when sending or receiving a wire transfer, fees may apply regardless of the currency sent. For a full list of current fees including wire transfers, please review our most current Personal Fee Schedule here: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt.
Also, you may request the funds from the recipient via Online Banking by using our Person-to-Person payment feature. In order to utilize this service, you must first be enrolled in Online Banking. If you are not already enrolled, you may begin the process by clicking here: http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY. Keep in mind that the enrollment process requires your account number, TD Bank ATM/Visa Debit Card number, Social Security number and email address.
Once you are logged in, please select the Person-to-Person Payments tab. You will then be asked to enroll in this service. As long as you have a US address on file, you should be able to send funds using this option to another US account). You will then be asked to accept a user agreement, review the fee schedule and confirm your email and phone number. A text and email code will be sent to the mobile number and the email address we have on file for you. Next, we will request you to submit both codes for verification to complete the enrollment process. Once the enrollment is complete, you’ll be ready to request the payment! To do so, you will then need to select the Request Money tab. You will then be asked to add a contact to request money from. You'll then need to fill in their first and last name as well as their email address or mobile phone number. Once you select the amount requested and where deposit the funds, the sender will receive a text and email alert notifying them of your request.
For more information on our Person-to-Person service, please take a look here: http://bit.ly/1h4ZIkL and also here: http://bit.ly/1pADlWD for our External Transfer and Popmoney Payments Services Terms and Conditions.
