I tried to call the bank today, and they advised me they need more than two days to order the currency in house. I'm wondering what to do to make sure I have at least some cash on hand when I get there should I need it, and what types of fees I'm looking at if I need to withdrawal cash abroad.

In regard to obtaining Pounds, you would need to visit your local TD Bank during lobby hours. Click here: http://bit.ly/TDStores to find a TD Bank near you. We recommend contacting the Store prior to visiting to ensure that the foreign currency, in this case Pounds, is on hand. If it needs to be ordered, please allow at least 2 business days. Please refer to our Personal Fee Schedule link listed above as fees may be associated with this type of request.
If you haven't done so already, we recommend placing travel notes on your accounts. Once your account is notated, TD Bank is now aware of your current and future locations and can greatly reduce any service interruptions.
