Thank you for reaching out to us, David! We'll be glad to provide some useful information for you regarding international travel.
You'll be pleased to know that your debit card can be used anywhere Visa is accepted and it isn't necessary to have a chip debit card during your travels. Please take a look below at some useful information regarding debit card usage abroad.
TD Bank does not charge any foreign transactions fees for purchases made with your TD Bank Visa debit card. We would like to take the opportunity to advise you about fees that can be incurred while using international ATMs.
Each withdrawal, transfer, and balance inquiry made at an ATM not owned by TD is subject to a $3.00 fee at this time, which is charged by TD Bank the same day the transaction is made (fees subject to change). This may be in addition to any fee assessed by the owner of the ATM or network, and may include fees for both withdrawals and balance inquiries. Please check out: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt for our current fee schedule.
If you use any ATM in a foreign country, you may also incur international, currency exchange and usage fees regardless of the type of account you have at TD Bank. Please refer to http://bit.ly/1kb17UQ (pg. 45) for more information about what type of fees to expect.
Feel free to check out: http://bit.ly/1ltwDDc and http://bit.ly/1fO8wKy for tips on international travel and FAQs.
We hope this helps and enjoy the rest of your day and have a great trip, David!
