We'd be happy to assist you with opening a new account.
We invite you to view and compare our Checking accounts, visit https://go.td.com/2aHjRCr or check out our Checking Selector Tool https://go.td.com/1vW1xnU for help with selecting a Checking account that is the best fit for your needs.
Once you decide on the account type that best suits you, you're able to open the account online, over the phone or at any TD Bank Store during lobby hours.
To open the account online, click on the "Open Account" button beneath the account you choose and fill in the required fields. You can open an account over the phone 24/7 by calling our Banking Specialists at 888-751-9000. Once speaking with a Representative, they will be glad to open an account for you.
Please visit: http://go.td.com/1f9DSJR to find TD Bank near you, if you choose to visit a Store.
Please know that regardless of the method you choose to open your account, you will need to have a valid photo I.D. handy to complete the opening process (Driver's License, Passport, Military I.D. etc.).
Thanks for stopping by, Paul!

The website will not allow me to set up a new account no matter how I try to enter the information (i.e. the above information is not helpful). I am not looking forward to a drive to Maryland when this was previously done online and by phone. Can anyone help?

Hi Paul. Thanks for writing back.
We're sorry to hear that you've been unable to open your account online and we'd like to help avoid a long drive to Maryland if we can. We have a couple of options.
If you log into your online banking here: https://go.td.com/1eaISlq, and opt to open your new account from there, all of your information will be populated for you. To start, go to the 'Products' tab once you've logged in. Then click the 'Open New Account' hyperlink. You'll be taken back to the home screen for our site. Under the banking tab, select the new account type you'd like. Once you've arrived at out checking or savings page, click the orange 'Open Account' button under the account you'd like. All of your information as we have it on file should be populated for you.
If any of this information is incorrect, or if you are still unable to complete the application, it may have to do with your location as Michigan is outside of our footprint. If this is case, simply give us a call anytime, 24/7 at 888-751-9000. We'd be happy to open the new account for you by phone and it should only take a few minutes.
We hope that this info helps and we look forward to talking with you soon, Paul. Have a great weekend!
