We appreciate your visit, Rosemarie and would be glad to help!
Please note that in general, a request to close an account may take 2-3 business days to be processed and completed. If a fee has been assessed to your account since then and the balance is no longer zero, we apologize for any inconvenience, as a Representative will need to assist you further in order to complete the account closing process.
We invite you to give one of our Banking Specialists a call. For your convenience, they are available 24/7 at 888-751-9000 and can help you with a resolution during your call.
Or, if you'll be nearby one of our Stores, feel free to stop in during our extended lobby hours. If you click here: http://bit.ly/TDStores, you can find the TD Bank Store and lobby hours nearest you.
Additionally, depending on the type of Checking account you currently have, accounts do require a daily minimum balance to avoid a monthly maintenance fees. If you fall below your required daily minimum balance, the maintenance fee would be assessed on the last day of your statement cycle.
If you are unsure of the type of account you have, that is okay! We are available 24/7 at the number provided above and after account verification, we'd be happy to help!
We are also happy to inform you that with your TD ATM/Debit card, you are able to use your card anywhere VISA or NYCE are accepted. When traveling, you can make an ATM withdrawal from any machine that displays the VISA or PLUS logo. We encourage you to check out our current fee schedule, http://bit.ly/1cTejgt, as it outlines any applicable fees that may be applied when you use your ATM Card out of the country.
To avoid any interruptions to your ATM Card usage, we request that you place a travel notification on your account. You can do so by calling our Customer Service Line at the number provided above or visiting a local TD Bank Store.
As you are enrolled in Online Banking, another option would be to send a secure message using www.tdbank.com and request the travel notifications be added to your account. To send a secure message you must first login to your TD Bank online profile. You can do so by clicking here: http://bit.ly/1eaISlq. On the left hand side, you should see and option to "Send a secure message" located in the “Message Center.” In your message, please include the dates and destination(s) you will be traveling.
By placing a travel notification, this will help us be aware if we see foreign transactions on your account. Also, please be informed that for your protection we will continue to monitor your card activity even when a notification is set. We also recommend carrying more than one method of payment while traveling, just in case you encounter any acceptance issues. For more travel tips while overseas, please visit http://bit.ly/1gDrDYu. We hope this helps and please let us know if you need anything else. Have a great day!
