I used to live in the USA for half a year for an internship at UVM. In my last few weeks there, my account was blocked. Now I want to close my account but I'm not sure how to get any remaining money out of the account. Also, I am unable to call to the USA, my phone provider doesn't work that way. How do I handle this a.s.a.p. because now I'm paying 15$ a month for a bank account I can't (and don't want to) use.

Hi Loes. Thanks for reaching out to us.
We'd be happy to help direct you in getting your account closed.
From what you've said, it sounds like you may have a balance remaining in your account. As you're unable to visit us to close the account, you can send us a letter in writing asking to have the account closed and a check for the balance sent to you. You'll need to send a written, signed, and notarized request to your home Store where you opened your account. To obtain their address, please use our Store Locator here: https://go.td.com/1nq31dc. We can also provide you with the mailing address via secure message. To send a secure message, log into your TD Bank online profile by clicking here: https://go.td.com/1eaISlq. Once you've successfully logged in, look for the 'Message Center' on the left hand side and select 'Send a secure message'. From your Mobile Banking, log in and select 'Send a Secure Message' from the side Menu. We can generally respond within 24 hours or less.
In your letter to us, please be sure to include your account number that need to be closed as well as your new address so we may issue you a check for the remaining funds in your account as well as your final statement.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to give us a call. We understand that your service provider may not allow international calls. Please know that you can call us collect from a landline with operator assistance using country code 011 at 215-569-0518. We're available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help.
We look forward to hearing from you soon, Loes. Have a great day!
