Great question, Charles!
As your son is under the age of 18, and is considered a minor, you may wish to open a joint account with him. Joint accounts may be opened in person at any TD Bank location, and we ask that all account holders be present for the account opening process. In addition, we also recommend that you contact your preferred Store prior to your visit to ensure that they'll be able to help you with this request, as your son is considered a minor. To take a look at Store locations and their hours please visit http://go.td.com/1f9DSJR.
If you'd like, you're more than welcome to check out the Checking accounts that we currently offer before your visit! To do so, please click here: https://go.td.com/1aDaRqd. We also have a Selector Tool which you may use to determine which account would best fit your needs. This can be found here: https://go.td.com/2sx4N2E.
When you're ready to visit a Store, you'll need your Social Security number and a valid personal identification such as a Driver's license, State ID, or Passport. Acceptable forms of identification for minors include a School ID (preferably with a picture), Passport, US Birth Certificate or Social Security card.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us directly! A Banking Specialist can be reached at 1-888-751-9000, and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
We hope you have a great day, Charles!
