Thank you for coming by TD Helps, Brian! We'll be glad to provide some assistance today with your check concerns.
It sounds like you have a check drawn in U.S. funds from our partners up North at TD Canada Trust; with that being said, we want to remind you that although the currency is in U.S. Dollars, it is still considered a foreign check as it is drawn on a Canadian account. Because of this, you may not be able to cash the check, but you are always welcome to deposit it into an account that you have with any financial institution here in the United States.
If you bank with TD here in the United States, we'd like to inform you of our typical funds availability policy if you'd like to deposit this check. If your account with us has been open for 90 days or more, then as TD Bank N.A. and TD Canada Trust work together under the same umbrella, the funds would typically be available on the next business day after the date of deposit. There may be some exceptions to this if your account is less than 90 days old or if the check is for an amount greater than $5000 and for full details on our Funds Availability Policy please check them out on Pages 38-41 here: http://bit.ly/1kb17UQ. Also, in some cases a fee may be assessed to a foreign deposit, and we invite you to take a look at our current Fee Schedule here: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt.
To deposit this check into your TD Bank account, please find the Store closest to you here: http://bit.ly/TDStores. Please also know that all foreign check deposits must be made in person with a Teller and cannot be deposited through the ATM, Bank-by-Mail or our Mobile Deposit feature.
If you have any additional questions, feel free to give us a call 24/7 at 888-751-9000. We hope this helps and enjoy the rest of your day, Brian! Take care.
