Hi Laura, we appreciate you reaching out to us with this. TD Helps is glad to assist with any questions you have about your CD.
Certificate of Deposits are automatically renewed at maturity and if you would like to renew the CD at its current terms, then you do not have to do anything. Your CD will automatically renew at the current interest rate in effect on the maturity date. You do have a 10 calendar day grace period after the maturity date of the CD though to change the terms or to close the CD without penalties. If you have an account that was setup with a Custodian originally, then yes, the Custodian must be present when you wish to close that account. Just step into the nearest TD Bank Store found here http://bit.ly/TDStores within 10 days of the CD's maturity date to close it out. If you have any questions, please reach out to us 24/7 at 888-751-9000.
We hope this clears it up Laura, but please connect with us with anything else you need. Have a great night!
