While going through my pay statements from work, I discovered a check written to me over a year ago by a family member, can I still deposit it or no?

Thank you for reaching out to us on TD Helps, Kerianne. We'd be happy to help.
Some checks have an expiration date (payroll checks, government checks, etc.), which limits or extends the time period when the checks can be cashed or deposited. When a check doesn't have an expiration date, it would be considered "stale dated" once it's six months old.
Please note that stale dated checks drawn on TD Bank may still be cashed after we verify the status of the account and check for a stop payment order. If a stop payment is not found, it is possible that the check may be presented to your account for payment even if six months or more have passed.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us 24/7 at 888-751-9000 or stop by any of the TD Store locations in your area. To find out TD Store locations near you, please visit: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
We hope to hear from you soon, Kerianne and have a great afternoon.
