After I move I want to keep my TD checking account for a few weeks until I close the account. Can I close my account on line?

Hey Robert, we appreciate you coming by TD Helps.
We'd hate to lose you as a Customer due to your move and would like you to know that we are committed to being available when you need us. If you'll be relocating to an area where TD Bank does not have locations, we do have some options for you to do all of your banking without visiting a Store.
As America’s Most Convenient Bank, we offer fully featured Online and Mobile Banking services and live telephone support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. And for example, you can always feel free to make a deposit using TD Bank Mobile Deposit. TD Bank Mobile Deposit is available for most iPhone and Android devices and to Customers of at least 90 days or longer with an active Checking, Savings or Money Market account. Please visit http://bit.ly/1e3jiYF for more information about this feature.
If you still wish to close your account, we understand and would be glad to help. To close your account online, your account balance must reflect a zero balance. If so, you may send a Secure Message after logging in to your TD Bank online account here: http://bit.ly/1eaISlq. Please find the Customer Service tab and use the Send a Message link to submit your request to close your account. You may contact our 24/7 Customer Service Department at 888-751-9000 and have the account closed via telephone.
However, if you still have funds available at that time, an easy way to close the account is via mailed written request. You may request to close your account and have any available money in your account be sent to you by check. You can mail a request with the following instructions:
▪Your name ▪Your account number(s) ▪Your request to close the account(s) ▪Your current address ▪Your signature
For your security, please have the letter notarized. It can then be mailed to: TD Bank, N.A Your Home Store's Address or, P.O. Box 1377 Lewiston, Maine 04243-1377.
If you are unsure of which Store is your Home Store (the Store location where your account was opened at), take a look at: http://bit.ly/TDStores for our Store locations.
You may also wish to withdraw the remaining funds using a local ATM. If your account is a checking with a Visa debit card, you can also opt to visit a bank in your area to request a cash advance of your funds. Please note that daily limits on personal debit cards are $762.00 for ATM withdrawals, and $5,000.00 for Cash Advances. We encourage you to check out our current fee schedule, http://bit.ly/1cTejgt, as it outlines any applicable fees that may come into play when you use your ATM debit card at a non-TD ATM.
Once the funds are removed, you may wish to close your account by using any methods listed above. Additionally, you may visit any TD Bank Store to close your account.
We hope this helps and let us know if you have any other questions.
