Thank you for joining us on TD Helps, Mary Rose. We'd be happy to help.
Statements will continue to be sent to your mailing address as long as your account's status is listed as "active." As you've mentioned that you have not received statements in some time, your account status may have changed.
If you haven't used your account, your account status could be listed as "inactive." This means that there has been no activity, such as deposit or withdrawals, within a specified time for your account type. Savings, Checking or Money Market accounts are automatically changed to an inactive status after one year of no Customer-initiated activity.
It is also possible that your account may be listed as "dormant." Dormant accounts are accounts that do not have activity for 3-5 years. Please keep in mind that once an account becomes dormant, it can be turned over to the State in which the account was opened after the 3 or 5 years of no activity. This span of time is determined by the State in which your account was opened.
You're welcome to see the article listed here: http://1.usa.gov/1ED20S9, which reviews information about abandoned or unclaimed accounts in the U.S.
If this has occurred with your account, you'll be able to contact the State to claim the funds. There is no time limit to do this. You may be able to locate their telephone number via your State's website, or you're welcome to call us at (856)-751-9000 from overseas. Additionally, you can call collect from a landline at (215)-569-0518.
In order to reactivate an account that has been listed as inactive or dormant, we ask that you visit us during lobby hours at any TD Store. By making an over-the-counter deposit or withdrawal with one of our Tellers, your account status will be returned to active and you will then continue to receive statements. To take a look at TD Stores near you please visit http://bit.ly/TDStores.
Once your account is reactivated, you will be able to sign up for Online Banking either during your visit or by calling us 24/7 by dialing the numbers listed above. Once enrolled, you will be able to print, download and request statements.
We hope to hear from you soon, Mary Rose and have a good day.
