Thanks for connecting with us here on TD Helps, Timothy. We understand that on occasion we may receive checks and then forget to cash them or deposit them. Please let us help you with some information about these types of checks.
Usually, checks that are more than 6 months old are considered "staledated." Please also keep in mind that some business checks (such as payroll checks, government checks, etc. have a specific expiration date listed on the check, which limits or extends the time period when the checks can be cashed or deposited.
If your check is drawn on TD Bank and is staledated, in some cases these may still be negotiated by the Bank. We can suggest that you visit a local TD Bank Store so that we can verify the account status and check for any stop payment orders on your check. Please see http://bit.ly/TDStores for a listing of our Stores near you for assistance.
Please note that in the instance a deposited check is returned, fees may apply. We recommend reviewing http://bit.ly/1cTejgt to ensure you are aware of this possibility before depositing the check. You may also prefer to contact the person or company who wrote you the check to determine if a new one can be reissued to you.
We hope the information provided helps, Timothy and thanks for visiting! Have a great day.
