Thanks for stopping by on TD Helps, Miklos. We're happy to point you in the right direction for your account.
Since you mentioned that you haven't used your account in some time, a few possibilities exist.
First, please note that for some of our account types, there is a minimum daily balance required in order to avoid a monthly maintenance fee. Even if your account balance was zero, if you had an account with this type of requirement, it's possible that a fee was assessed if the minimum balance wasn't met. In this instance, if the balance due wasn't paid within 60 days or so, the account could be closed and sent to a collections agency. To check on this possibility, you may wish to contact our Recovery Department directly at 800-354-9769. They can be reached Monday through Friday, 8 am to 9 pm and Saturday, 8 am to 5 pm for your convenience.
On the other hand, if the balance was zero there is a possibility that the Bank closed the account. To find out more, we invite you to visit any TD Bank Store nearby you, and feel free to locate one here: http://go.td.com/TDStores. In the instance that any funds are in the account and the account has become Inactive or Dormant, a Representative there will also be able to advise you of this. If this is the case, a deposit or withdrawal at the Store can reactivate the account for you. And if the account is closed or no funds are owed, you'll be more than welcome to open a new account at that time if you prefer.
We hope that this helps, Miklos. Feel free to reach out to us with any other questions.
