We're sorry to hear about what's happened, William. We do have options to protect your account.
If you're concerned that this was a scam rather than a legitimate company, we will want to take some measures to protect your account. As you've informed us that you provided them a check for payment, which includes your account information, we ask that you please call our Fraud Resolution Team at 800-893-8554. We have Fraud Specialists available from 7AM to Midnight, 7 days a week. You may have the option to restrict your current account and open a new one.
Should you choose this restriction; you will need to provide a list of all outstanding approved transactions. With the restriction in place, no transactions will be processed on your account without being on that list. This will prevent legitimate payments from being returned unnecessarily. Representatives in that department will fully review this process along with any other options that could help protect your account and your funds.
With regard to securing a refund; as the check was endorsed by the account owner and paid to the party for whom it was intended, we may not be able to dispute it. But you do have the option to file a police report and attempt to recover your funds that way. We will help in any way we can.
If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to give us a call at the number above or stop in to see us at any of our Stores. To find one near you, please click here: https://go.td.com/1nq31dc.
We hope to hear from you soon, William. Take care.
