Hi Andreea, and thanks for joining us at TD Helps today. We are sorry to see you go but understand if you need to close your account, and can provide you with some options to do so.
Accounts can be closed by any account signer. If you cousin is listed as a joint owner on your account, he can visit any of our convenient Store locations when he arrives to request that the account be closed. He can check out http://bit.ly/TDStores to find a Store which may be in the area of his stay.
If he is not listed as an owner on the account, don't worry as we have other options for you. If your account has available funds, you may request to close your account in writing and any remaining money will be sent to you by check. You can mail a written request with the following instructions:
▪Your name ▪Your account number(s) ▪Your request to close the account(s) ▪Your current address
For your security, please have the letter notarized. It can then be mailed to:

If you are able to remove the funds another way, such as with your Visa Debit Card, check, or transfer, or if your account balance is already zero, you also have the option to contact a friendly Customer Service Representative to request that the account be closed. As you are writing us from Bucharest, you may contact a Specialist 24/7 from outside the United States via phone at 1-856-751-9000, or collect with operator assistance from a land line phone by asking the operator to dial 1-215-569-0518. Or if it's easier, you can also send a Representative your request to close your account via Online Banking.
