I live in Ireland. I have had a TD bank account for ten years (originally mercantile credit). In January I bought a book on amazon for circa $2 it overdrew my account and I was charged. In Ireland, if you do not have available funds the bank does not allow you to make a debit transaction. I assumed this would be the same for TD bank, I was wrong. Anyway I have since found out, after trying to transfer funds to this account, that it was closed. The funds were returned and I lost more money. I would like to return the account to good standing. I have a debit card here in Ireland or I can send a US bank draft. Please advise which is acceptable. The amount owing is in the region of $75.

Welcome to TD Helps, Rachel. We appreciate you reaching out to us and we would be happy to help.
Since you mentioned that your account was closed due to overdrawing the account for a period of time, we ask that you contact our international number at 856-751-9000. Since you would be calling from abroad, we would then get you transferred over to our Recovery Department to make payment arrangements. Please note that closed accounts cannot be re-opened regardless of the reasons for closing it and business accounts can only be opened at a TD Bank Store.
We do offer an option to mail in a deposit, in which you can send a check equal to the amount of your overdrawn balance. When mailing a check to pay off your balance, you can mail to:
TD Bank, N.A. ME2-001-033 P.O. Box Number 1190 Lewiston, ME 04243
Like any other deposits, a few simple guidelines apply:
Cash should not be sent through the mail
Payee of the check and name on deposit ticket should be the same
Checks should be endorsed (and restricted for deposit only)
Multiple checks should be listed and a total of the deposit listed
Enclose the deposit ticket, not the carbon copy
If using a blank deposit ticket, please write account number clearly
Do not staple transactions
Once the overdrawn balance has been paid off, you can request to open a new account by calling our 24/7 International Customer Service line at 856-751-9000. Please note if you are not a US citizen, you must visit a TD Bank location in person to open a new account with us.
