I moved and there is no longer a TD bank near me. Is there any way for me to close my account online via a secure message and have my account balance sent to me? Trying to buy a vehicle private sale and need my funds as soon as possible.

Thanks for coming by TD Helps, Ryan. Although we would hate to see you go due to your move, we'd be glad to help.
Before we begin, we'd like to let you know that we are committed to your satisfaction as a Customer. If you have moved outside of our footprint, we do have some options for you to complete your banking without the need to visit a TD Bank Store. Please note that we offer fully featured online and mobile banking services and live telephone support available 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, 365 days/year.
If you are not currently enrolled for Online Banking, you can sign up by clicking here: http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY. Keep in mind that you will need your account number, Social Security Number, ATM/Visa Debit Card number and email address to enroll. If you have any trouble, feel free to contact us 24/7 by dialing 888-751-9000 and our Representatives will be happy to assist you.
Once you're enrolled, you're welcome to use this service to help you keep track of your account, and you can even communicate with us whenever you'd like using our Secure Messaging service available once you log in. To do so, please log in at our full website here: http://bit.ly/1eaISlq, click on the Customer Service tab, and the use the Send a Message link to talk with us about your account questions or requests.
Signing up for Online Banking allows you access to our Mobile Banking services too. If you have a smart phone, you are able to bank on the go with our Mobile Banking Application found here: http://bit.ly/1hOPk1H. You even get to use the same user name and password for the application that you use for Online Banking. Again, if you have any trouble, feel free to contact the number listed above.
If you would still like to close your account, we understand your decision. We do offer a variety of ways to do so. One way is to visit a TD Store to withdraw the funds and close the account. However, as you're not located near a TD and since you mentioned that your account has remaining funds, another easy way to close the account is via mailed written request. You may request to close your account and have any available money in your account be sent to you by check. You can mail a request with the following instructions:
▪Your account number(s)
▪Your request to close the account(s)
▪Your current address
For your security, please have the letter notarized. It can then be mailed to:
TD Bank, N.A
P.O. Box 1377
Lewiston, Maine 04243-1377
If you'd prefer, another option is to remove any remaining funds from your current location, such as via your TD Bank Visa Debit Card, check, or transfer. Once the account balance is zero, you can contact a friendly Customer Service Representative 24/7 at 888-751-9000 to request that the account be closed.
If this option suits you better, we suggest using a local ATM to withdraw funds from your account. Please note, non-TD ATM fees may apply and invite you to check out our Fee Schedule here: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt. If your account is a Checking with a Visa debit card, you can also visit a bank in your area to request a cash advance of your funds. Please note that daily limits on personal debit cards are $762.00 for ATM withdrawals, and $5,000.00 for Cash Advances.
Once the funds have been removed from your account and the balance shows zero dollars and zero cents, you may contact us at the number listed above and have the account closed by our Customer Service Representatives or, if it's easier, you can also send a Representative your request to close your account via Online Banking. Please log in to your account here: http://bit.ly/1eaISlq and once logged in, visit the Customer Service tab. The "Send a Message" link will be available there for you to make your request. Should you require any increase for your debit card limits, this may also be done via this messaging system.
We hope this helps. Please let us know if you need anything else. Have a good one.
