Aloha Pham, thanks for reaching out to us on TD Helps. We're sad to see you go but we're happy to help you with relocating your funds to your new bank in Hawaii.
A great way to use up any remaining checks from your TD Bank account is to write a check to yourself or to cash for your remaining balance; which you may then deposit it into your account at your other financial institution. We recommend checking with your other financial institution for their check clearing process.
A quick option is to withdraw funds from your TD Bank account through any ATM and then you can deposit the funds into your account at your other financial institution. By using this option to transfer your funds, there may be limits and fees that apply.
You may also go to your other financial institution and make a cash advance from your account using your TD Bank Visa Debit Card. Then you can deposit your funds into your account at your other financial institution. You may withdrawal a daily limit of up to $5,000 through the Visa Cash Advance.
You do have the option of sending an external transfer to the other financial institution. You will have two delivery options with external transfers, three day or next day delivery. For the three day option, the fee is $3.00 whereas; next day delivery has a fee of $7.00. The next day delivery option will become available to you after 90 days of your first successful 3 day transfer; plus your account must be without any overdrafts in the past 90 days.
If you choose this option, you must first be enrolled in Online Banking. If you have an ATM/debit card and Social Security number, you may fill out the online application to access your personal account(s). Please visit http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY to enroll for TD Bank Online Banking. Once there, you will need to choose Personal from the drop down box. First, you'll have to accept the Online Banking Agreement. Then, we'll ask you to enter in your personal information (Name, Social Security number, account number, etc.) and finally, you will have to set up three security questions. After those 3 steps are completed, you will have immediate access to your account(s) online.
If you're looking to transfer funds using the external transfer option, you can do so by using the "Transfers" tab. After selecting the "Transfers" tab you will then have to click "Transfer to Accounts Outside TD Bank." You would have to add your account at the different institution. To do so, select "Add a New Account." You will then be prompted to select the type of account followed by the account and routing numbers. Once you enter the required fields, the transfer service will then display whether or not you can make an immediate transfer. In some cases, a trial deposit is initiated at the receiving institution for verification purposes.
External transfers can only be conducted to or from a U.S. account in U.S. currency. They can only be made from an Eligible Transaction Account: for example, personal checking, money market or savings accounts are usually allowed, with you as a signer on the account. Please note, accounts excluded from using this service due to ACH restrictions include, but are not limited to: Passbook, IRA, Holiday Club, Club Saver, and CDs.
For the Terms and Conditions in addition to information on the payment methods and amounts, please check http://bit.ly/1pADlWD. If you have a business account, you have the option to send funds via ACH or Wire Transfer. If you have not enrolled for TD Bank Business Direct, you can do so by visiting here: http://bit.ly/1dl2HX6. Feel free to visit http://bit.ly/1bEQmZW for more information.
Once you have a zero balance in your account, you can contact our 24/7 Customer Service line at 888-751-9000 or send a Secured Message requesting the closure of your account. If you chose to send a secured message, please sign into your online account and click on the "Customer Service" tab and then select "Send A Message."
You can also opt to close your account by mail. Please mail your written, signed, and notarized request to your Home Store (the location where you opened your account). If you are unsure of the address of your home Store, please contact our Customer Service line at the telephone number above for assistance. Please be sure to provide all account numbers so we may issue you a check for the remaining funds in your account(s), if it isn't already at a zero balance, as well as your final statement.
We recommend checking with the other financial institution to ensure no other additional information is required as well.
Congrats on the move and best of luck in Hawaii!
