I would like to use the automated system to check my balance but I can never get it to work. Do I need to use certain numbers or can you give me instructions to follow? It would be greatly appreciated!

It’s great hearing from you today, Joseph. We appreciate you writing to us on TD Helps.
In order to check your account balance using the TD Bank Automated System, you will need your account number. You can find this easily on your checks (it will be the second set of numbers) or on one of your statements. You can also find this on the homepage once you log in to your Online Banking.
If you are a first time user, your PIN number is set to be the last four digits of the primary account holder's social security number. Once that number is dialed in, the automated system will then prompt you to change your PIN number to your desired four-digit sequence.
If you are not a first time user and you do not remember your selected PIN number, please contact our customer service line at 888-751-9000, 24/7, and a Customer Service Representative will be able to reset it for you.
We hope this helps.
Please feel free to let us know if you have any further questions.
Enjoy your day.

I enter my account number, which is 9 digits long and then I hit #, and it says please hold for a customer representative. Am I doing something wrong, or do I have to enter 0 after my account number? to make it a 10 digit?

Thanks for coming to TD Helps with your question, Diane. Sorry you're having issues with the Interactive Voice Response system.
You may check your balance via our automated Bank-by-Phone (IVR) system at 888-751-9000. The first time you call, it will prompt you to enter either your account number or your TD Bank VISA Debit Card number. Please note the specific digits consisting of your account number or debit card number should be sufficient. After that, it will ask you to confirm the last 4 digits of your Social Security number. After entering your SSN upon first use, the system will then ask you to create a unique 4 digit Phone Code to use for future access through the IVR system.
Please keep in mind that the automated system may ask for the last four numbers of your Social Security number if you're inquiring about a joint account.
If you have any questions about the automated system, you can select "0" to reach a live Representative when you dial the telephone number listed above. Our Representatives are available 24/7 to answer any banking questions you may have. You may also visit a TD Store during lobby hours for assistance. For Store locations and their hours please visit http://bit.ly/TDStores .
Hope this helps and enjoy your weekend!
