We're very sorry to hear this, Heather. We'd like to help.
There could be several reasons your card is being declined. When traveling, one of the most common causes of this is sudden charges outside of your normal spending area. This will lead us to be concerned that your card has been stolen or duplicated. If we block a transaction, it will generally trigger a phone call to you to verify the attempted purchase. Whenever traveling, we recommend reaching out to us in advance so that we can notate your account and confirm that your telephone number on file is correct. This will help to prevent any issues while you're away.
We will need to take a look at your account and attempted debit card transactions to confirm the reason it's been declined. As TD Helps is considered an unsecure forum, we do not have access to specific account information. Please give us a call 24/7 so we may review your account. To reach us from outside of the United States, please use country code 011 and call 856-751-9000 or collect with operator assistance from a landline at 215-569-0518.
You can also send us a secure message through your online or mobile banking. To send a secure message, log into your TD Bank online profile by clicking here: https://go.td.com/1eaISlq. Once you've successfully logged in, look for the 'Message Center' on the left hand side and select 'Send a secure message'. From your Mobile Banking, log in and select 'Send a Secure Message' from the side Menu. We can generally respond within 24 hours or less.
We hope to hear from you soon so that we can resolve this for you. Enjoy your time in Mexico, Heather!
