i was told it can be done by email but when i want to send a message via "contact us" it isnt working so i sent secure message through internet banking, what else do i need to do to cancel my account, i would like to communicate by email and not phone because im not in US anymore, thank you

As you prefer not to connect with our Banking Specialists via telephone, options vary depending on whether there is a balance on your account or not.
If your account has remaining funds, the easiest way to close the account from abroad is via mail with a written request. You may request to close your account and any available money will be sent to you by check. You can mail a request with the following instructions:
▪Your name ▪Your account number(s) ▪Your request to close the account(s) ▪Your current address ▪Your signature
For your security, please have the letter notarized. It can then be mailed to:

If you prefer another option is to remove any remaining funds from your current location, such as via your TD Bank Visa Debit Card, check, or transfer. If you choose to use this method, once the funds have been removed, you may send us a secure message via your TD Online Banking from here: http://bit.ly/1eaISlq and once logged in, visit the Customer Service tab. The Send a Message link will be available there for you to make your request.
