Hi Kimberly, thanks for writing in today. We'd hate to see you go!
We understand from your question that there aren't many TD locations near you and we are happy to say that we have options to maintain your account without going to a TD Store. For example, TD Bank offers Bill Pay, Online, and Mobile Banking. Check http://bit.ly/1lnLZE5 for more details.
Additionally, there may be options available for you to avoid fees on your account. To review your account further and provide you with additional details feel free to contact our Banking Specialists 24/7 at 888-751-9000.
If you would still like to close your account, we understand. If you still have a balance in your account, we suggest making a purchase with your debit card or writing a personal check for the total amount in your account. Once your balance reads zero, the account can be closed in three ways.
Your first option is to contact us at the number listed above. You can also send us a secure message via your Online Banking. If you have not enrolled, you can do so for free by following this link: http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY. You will need your account number, Social Security number, your email address and your current TD ATM/Debit card. If you run into any problems enrolling or if you do not have a TD ATM/Debit card to enroll online, please give us a call. Once you've successfully enrolled and after you log onto your Online Banking, on the left hand side, you should see and option to "Send a secure message" located in the “Message Center.
Another option would be requesting your account to be closed by mail. Please mail your written, signed, and notarized request to:
TD Bank, N.A.
(Home Store Address)
(Home Branch Telephone Number)
Please be sure to provide your account number so we may issue you a check for the remaining funds in your account as well as your final statement. If you are unsure of which Store is your Home Store (where you opened your account), take a look at http://bit.ly/TDStores for locations.
To change your direct deposit, we recommend connecting with your depositor for further instruction.
We hope this is helpful and take care!
