Thanks for contacting TD Helps today, Brian. We'll be happy to point you in the right direction.
We'd like to let you know that you can still bank with us, even while you're abroad! We have some options for you to complete your banking needs without the need to visit a TD Bank Store. Please note that we offer fully featured Online and Mobile Banking services, as well as live Customer Service support, available 24hours a day, 7 days week, by dialing 856-751-9000, or via collect by asking the operator to dial 00+1-215-569-0518 from a landline telephone.
If you are not currently enrolled in Online Banking, you can sign up by clicking here: https://go.td.com/1lU2qfY, if you have a TD Bank Visa Debit Card or ATM number, and a US Social Security number. If not, you're more than welcome to contact us directly at the number listed above for assistance with enrollment.
Once you're enrolled, you're welcome to use this service to help you keep track of your account, and you can even communicate with us whenever you'd like using our Secure Messaging service available once you log in. To do so, please log in to our full website here: https://go.td.com/1eaISlq, click on the Customer Service tab, and the use the Send a Message link to talk to a Customer Service Specialists in regard your account questions or concerns.
If you still choose to close your account, we understand, and can share some instructions with you to do so. If your account has remaining funds, the easiest way to close the account from abroad is via mailed written request. You may request to close your account, and any available funds will be sent to you by check. You can mail a request with the following instructions:
▪Your account number(s)
▪Your request to close the account(s)
▪Your current address
For your security, please have the letter notarized. It can then be mailed to:
TD Bank, N.A
P.O. Box 1377
If you prefer, another option is to remove any remaining funds from your current location, such as via your TD Bank Visa Debit Card, check, or transfer. If you choose to use this method, once the funds have been removed, please contact a Live Customer Service Specialists at the number listed above, and request to have your account closed. It will be necessary to make a specific request to close the account once the balance is zero as the account will not close automatically. If it's easier, you may also send a secure message to close your account via our secure messaging feature, as mentioned above, after logging in to your Online Banking.
We hope this helps, Brian, and please enjoy the rest of your day.
Customer Service Team, Mount Laurel
