The check was sent to me for something I sold .i am now weary that I was scammed and the check is possibly fraudulent. How long does it take to verify if the cashiers check is valid . ii don't want to remove money that might show up in my account if it is fraudulent . I understand I would be liable to pay td bank back if the check turns out to be no good . Thank you

Thanks for writing in today and sorry to hear about any possibility of fraud, Thomas. There are a couple of options to consider and we can certainly review them with you here.
Typically, once you have made a deposit, we would recommend that you allow at least 10 full business days for check verification. If the funds are unable to be collected from the originating bank for any reason, TD Bank will generally debit the amount back from your account during this time frame. Kindly note that if TD Bank is unable to collect funds, however, they can still be removed from your account at any time.
We can also recommend that you contact the bank directly which issued the cashier's check. They may be able to verify the validity of the check for you. If you don't have a copy of this item, you may visit us at any TD Bank Store to obtain a copy right away, or reach us by phone, so that we can mail a copy to your address on file. You may need the information printed on the check in order to verify the funds. If you click here: http://bit.ly/TDStores, you can find the TD Bank Store and lobby hours nearest you, or call us on 888-751-9000, 24/7 for assistance.
We hope this information helps a bit, Thomas. Please let us know about any other questions you have and take care.
