Thanks for coming by TD Helps with your question, Seong. We understand if you need to close your account, and can provide you with some options to do so.
When closing your account, if you have a Personal account with a remaining balance, we'd recommend visiting any TD Bank Store near you to withdraw the funds and request that the account be closed.
If you have a remaining TD Bank deposit account that funds can be transferred to, you may also call us 24/7 by dialing 888-751-9000. Or, you're welcome to send a Secure Message via your Online Banking account by logging it at http://bit.ly/1eaISlq and clicking the Customer Service tab. You'll find a link to Send a Message there, where you can enter your request. Please be sure to specify the account number you wish to close if you choose this method.
We see you mentioned you'd like to close your account via mailed written request. You may request to close your account and have any available money in your account be sent to you by check. Please mail a request with the following instructions:
▪Your account number(s)
▪Your request to close the account(s)
▪Your current address
If you have not already done so, and for your security, please have the letter notarized and mailed to your Home Store. You Home Store is the TD location you visited to open your Account. If you are unsure of which Store is your Home Store, take a look at http://bit.ly/TDStores. Please note, an account closing request generally takes 2-3 business days to be completed.
We also would like to share another option which is to remove any remaining funds from your current location, such as via your TD Bank Visa Debit Card, check, or transfer. Once the account balance is zero, you can contact a friendly Customer Service Representative to request that the account be closed.
You may also use a local ATM to withdraw funds from your account. If your account is a checking with a Visa debit card, you can also opt to visit a bank in your area to request a cash advance of your funds. Please note that daily limits on personal debit cards are $762.00 for ATM withdrawals, and $5,000.00 for Cash Advances.
Once the funds have been removed, please contact a Specialist 24/7 at the number listed above.
We hope you have a nice weekend, and thanks for using TD Helps!
