Thank you for coming by TD Helps, Tony. We're sorry to hear that you'd like to close your account and we'll show you how you can.
The balance in your account must be brought to a zero balance in order for it to close. There are a few ways that you can zero out your balance. You mentioned in your question that you'd like to transfer the funds into another account of yours. If you're enrolled in online banking, you can transfer the remaining funds into your other account and send us a secure message to close the account.
If you're not currently enrolled for online banking, you may do so by clicking here: http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY . Please have your account number, debit card number and Social Security number available. If you have any trouble signing up, please contact our Banking Specialists, 24/7 at 888-751-9000. To send a secure message, please sign into your account and select "Send a message"; which is located underneath the Message Center on the left hand side of the page. Please allow up to 3 business days for the account to close as any incoming deposits or deductions would prevent the account from closing.
You could also give us a call at the telephone number listed above to have one of our Banking Specialists transfer the funds and close your account. Or, you could visit any TD Bank during lobby hours to close the account as well. Click here: http://bit.ly/TDStores to find a TD Bank near you.
We hope this information is useful to you and let us know if you have any additional questions, Tony. Have a great evening and enjoy your upcoming weekend!

I want to cancel this account immediately. I opened this account on line and saw a stipulation that if no deposit was made within a specified time, the account will be closed. Now I am receiving a bill for overdraft fees. the bill shows a total amount of $37.00

Hi Jaime we're happy for you to come to TD Helps today.
First, we'd like to let you know that we are committed to your satisfaction as a Customer. If you have any questions or concerns about your banking experiences, we invite you to discuss them with us at a TD Bank Store or by calling us at 888-751-9000. Please find your closest Store and lobby hours here: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
If you still choose to close your account and if it is a Personal account with a remaining balance owed, we'd recommend visiting any TD Bank Store near you to deposit the funds and request that the account be closed. Please visit the above link to find a convenient location for you.
If you're able to cover the amount owed by transferring the funds from another one of your accounts, you may also call us 24/7 by dialing 888-751-9000 once the balance is zero. Or, you're welcome to send a Secure Message via your Online Banking account by logging it at http://bit.ly/1eaISlq and clicking the Customer Service tab. You'll find a link to "Send a Message" there, where you can enter your request. Please be sure to specify the account number you wish to close if you choose this method.
Hope this helps and have a nice day.

First, if you have not done so already, we recommend contacting us as soon as possible to close your Debit Card for your account's security. Our Banking Specialists are available 24/7 at 888-751-9000 to assist with closing your card.
After account verification, our Specialists would also be able to submit a request to have a Card mailed to the address we have on file for you. Please keep in mind that depending on your post office your new Card will arrive within 7-10 business days. Additionally, our Specialists would be happy to review your account with you to make sure that no unauthorized activity has occurred.
You are also able to visit a TD Store to close your Debit Card and have a new one reissued. To take a look at TD Stores near you please visit http://go.td.com/1WxWpIB. Be sure to bring a valid photo I.D. for your visit (Driver's License, Passport, Military I.D. etc.).
Please know that you are also able to ask for assistance with your Online Banking by calling the 24/7 number listed above or by visiting a TD Store during lobby hours.
If this is in regards to your TD Credit Card and not your Debit Card, please call our Credit Card Specialists directly 24/7 by dialing 888-561-8861.
We hope that this information helps out, Luciany. Please do not hesitate to ask us any other questions.
