Thanks for writing into TD Helps, Jasmin! We'll be glad to share the ways that you can close your account.
In order to close your account, your balance must be zero. If your account has a remaining balance, feel free to purchase an item with your debit card or write a personal check for the entire amount in your account. You could also withdraw the remaining funds from your account using the ATM as well. Another option you have is to visit your local TD Bank during lobby hours to withdraw the funds and close your account as the same time. Click here: http://bit.ly/TDStores to find a TD Bank near you.
Once your account is brought to a zero balance, feel free to give us a call 24/7 at 888-751-9000, visit any TD Bank during lobby hours or if you're enrolled in online banking, you can send us a secure message requesting the closure of your account. To send a secure message, please sign into your account and select "Send a message"; which is located underneath the Message Center on the left hand side of the page. Please note that it can take up to 72 hours for your account to close.
Please let us know if you have any questions, Jasmin and have a good night!
