stating that there is no such acoount is there anyway to verify that this is really why the payment was denied. I think I have been scammed. big time

If the account held by your friend is here at TD Bank, if you'd like to give us a call at 888-751-9000, 24/7, we can verify if the account is an active account here. We apologize that we won't be able to verify any other information about the account, such as the balance, if you're not listed as an account signer.
If you have a Visa Credit Card with TD Bank, you're welcome to speak with our Card Services Specialists 24/7 at 888-561-8861. They'll be able to let you know the reason the payment was returned.
If your credit card is held by another financial institution, we recommend giving them a call and they should be able to provide additional information for you about the payment return.
