Good morning, Harry, and welcome to TD Helps.
We're so sorry for any confusion you may be experiencing, and we'll be more than happy to help.
We'd first like to take a moment to explain in a bit more detail how Official Checks, or Bank Checks, work.
Official Checks are similar to personal checks with the exception that they provide the payee with a guarantee that the funds will be debited successfully from a financial institution, in this case TD Bank, rather than a Checking account. Official Checks are purchased at any TD Store location by speaking with a Teller, during lobby hours.
When you purchase an Official Check, as the funds will be debited from TD Bank, and not your account, the Official Check will be endorsed by a Representative at your Store location. Once this has been completed, and the check is in your possession, you will not be required to sign the front or the back, and can simply hand the check over to your payee.
As you mentioned that you signed the back of the Official Check you purchased at your local TD Store location, we'd like to recommend that you speak with your Store location again so that they may further assist you. Typically, the endorsement field on the back of the check is intended for only the payee to endorse, and if a signature other than the payee is showing, the check may not be accepted by any financial institution.
If you'd like, you're welcome to use the link here: http://go.td.com/1f9DSJR to find your nearest Store location, as well as their lobby hours and contact information.
Additionally, if you'd prefer to speak with a Banking Specialist in regard to your concerns, you may call 1-888-751-9000, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
We sincerely hope this helps, Harry. Thanks again for stopping by today, and enjoy the rest of your day.
