Thank you for considering TD for your banking needs, Bob! We'll be sure to cover everything you'll need to know.
There is no minimum amount required to open an account with us. However, depending on the type of account you choose to open, you may be required to maintain a minimum daily balance to avoid a maintenance fee. If you choose an account with a minimum daily balance, we recommend opening the account with that amount as an initial deposit.
We offer many different types of Checking and Savings accounts. To view and compare our Checking accounts, visit https://go.td.com/2aHjRCr. To view and compare Savings account products, click: https://go.td.com/1pJT9I9.
You may wish to deposit cash or a check; however, funds from check deposits require verification. When you deposit a check, the first $100 is made available right way. Since you will be a new account holder and your account has not been open for 30 consecutive days, check deposits can be held for 7-10 business days for verification purposes. After this grace period, not only will the first $100 be made available at the time of deposit but the rest of the funds will credit to your account the following business day.
If you make a deposit through the ATM, either cash or check, the first $100 dollars is credited immediately while the remainder of your deposit will be applied to the balance on the following business day. Unlike the ATM, the Mobile Deposit feature does not credit any funds initially. The funds will be credited on the following business day.
