Welcome to the TD Helps community, John.
We're happy to inform you that you may request a TD ATM Card for your personal Checking account instead of a TD Bank Visa Debit Card.
There are two ways to obtain an ATM/debit card; via mail or at any TD Bank location. During the account opening process, there is an option to have an ATM/debit card mailed to your home address. This option appears when you open an account over the telephone via our 24/7 Customer Service line at 888-751-9000 or through our web site. If you request the card to be mailed to you, you should receive it in 7-10 business days, depending on the post office. If you choose to open an account at one of our Store locations, you can receive an ATM/debit card right on the spot! Please visit: http://bit.ly/TDStores to find a TD Bank near you. Please note, if you open the account online or by phone and wish to receive your card sooner, you may still visit any TD location for a new card to be printed immediately for you.
Please note: TD ATM cards can only be used for transactions involving an ATM and cannot be used to make any purchases.
Hope this helps answer your question and have a nice day.
