I am looking to close my accounts with my current bank and open new accounts with large opening deposits. For example, open a checking/savings account with $15-20K each. How quickly will I be able to access the funds and make withdrawals/transfer.

Good day, Melissa and thank you for considering TD Bank for your banking needs.
When opening new Checking or Savings accounts via www.tdbank.com, the maximum amount allowed during new account opening process is $1000.00. Funds should be available to you between 2-4 business days. You can also open a new CD via our website; however, you will need to fund your new CD account at a local TD Bank Store location. As you're planning to transfer a larger amount from your current financial institution to your new TD deposit accounts and would also like to have access to your funds as soon as possible, we recommend initiating a wire transfer with your current financial institution after your new TD accounts are set up. As once your new accounts are set up, you will be given new account numbers immediately via our website.
You can then provide the following information to your current financial institution:
Wire to: TD Bank, N.A Wilmington, Delaware
Credit to: Your Full Name and Account Title, Your Address, Your Account Number
We will post all incoming wires on the banking day they are received until 6:30 PM EST. Also, we do not process incoming Pay Upon Proper Identification (PUPID) wires and we return them to the sender. For more info on the fee for wire transfers, please take a look here: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt.

If you choose to open your new accounts online, you'll need the following: Your Social Security number, One of the following: Driver's license, State ID, or Passport. To make a first deposit online, you may use a debit card linked to an account from another financial institution, a credit card (Visa or MasterCard).
Please also know that there are 5 steps with series of questions you will need to fill in during this account opening process. The first step is the "Account Info", you will need to input the account type you are looking to open and whether you want a TD Debit Card or not. The second step is your "Personal Info". Here you will authenticate your identity so be sure your Social Security number and your Driver's license, State ID, or Passport are on hand for this step. Step three is the "Disclosures" where you will be requested to view and agree to the terms and conditions of the account type you've chosen. Step four is your "First Deposit". If you have a current account, whether it is with TD Bank or another institution, this is where you can transfer funds into the new account for the first deposit. Finally, step five is the "Finish" portion. Review your information and submit your application. If you run into any problems during the process or if you prefer, you could also give us a call at 888-751-9000 to speak with a Customer Service Representative. Our Representatives are available 24/7 and are ready to help answer any questions and open that account for you!
