I was told that I need to provide td bank with my occupation when getting a certified check paid for in cash. I am curious as to why they need this information.

Thanks for your question, Lynn. We'd be glad to discuss.
Based on your question, it sounds as though you've recently purchased an Official Check at your local TD Store for an amount greater than 10,000. Please know that there are certain documents/reports that need to be filed for security reasons. Keep in mind that these documents are not required by TD Bank but by the IRS and Federal Reserve.
If you would like to discuss this in greater detail we recommend reaching out to your local TD Store. To review our TD Stores' contact information, please visit http://go.td.com/1f9DSJR.
We hope this helps, Lynn. Have a good day.
