Good morning, Jacob.
You have a great question, and we appreciate you coming to TD Helps. We'll be more than happy to help.
Here at TD Bank, when using your debit card to make purchases, in some instances, you will have the ability to use either the debit or credit side of your card. Typically, the debit side of your card requires a PIN, while the credit will simply be your signature.
When a transaction is performed using your PIN, generally, the transaction will be immediately debited from your account. When signing for a purchase, the transaction may remain pending for up to 10 business days. When a purchase is made using the credit side of your debit card, you are providing the merchant with the authorization to debit your account; however, please know that once the transaction is pending in your account, it is up to the merchant to then retrieve the funds. Once they have done so, the transaction will then process to your account, and no longer reflect as 'Pending.'
If you would prefer to review a specific transaction on your account, we're here to help! Banking Specialists can be reached by simply dialing 1-888-751-9000, and for your convenience are here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You would also have the option of connecting with a Customer Service Representative at your nearest TD Store location, during lobby hours. To take a look at Store locations and their hours, please visit http://go.td.com/1f9DSJR.
If you're unable to call or visit a Store location, that's okay, as you would also have the option of sending us a secure message. To send a secure message, you will first want to log into your TD Bank online profile by clicking here: https://go.td.com/1eaISlq. Once you've successfully logged in, towards the right hand side of your screen, you should see a 'Your Secure Messages' section. To send a message, simply click 'Send us a secure message.'
If you have downloaded our mobile banking app for your smartphone, you may also use this method to send a secure message. From your Mobile Banking, log in and select 'Send a Secure Message' from the side Menu. We generally respond within 24 hours or less.
We hope this helped to clear up any confusion you may be experiencing, Jacob, and please let us know if you have any additional questions.
Enjoy the rest of your Thursday.
