Thanks for writing in today, Lory. We're happy to provide you with information on using your debit card out of the country.
While traveling, you can use your debit card at millions of locations that accept VISA across the globe and you'll be able to make ATM withdrawals from any machine that displays the VISA or PLUS logo. For any fees that may apply please view: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt.
If you are unable to locate an ATM that is compatible with the TD Bank debit card, it may be used to obtain a VISA Cash Advance. There is a 3% foreign transaction fee that is applied for transactions processed internationally and will be posted in US currency. This includes all of the TD Bank Visa Credit Cards we offer, except for the First Class Visa Signature Card, in which there is no international transaction fee.
To avoid any interruptions to your TD debit card, we request that you place a travel notification on your account. You can do so by calling Customer Service 24/7 at 888-751-9000 or by visiting a nearby TD Bank Store. For hours and locations please view: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
Another option to place a travel note is if you are enrolled in Online Banking you can send a secured message using www.tdbank.com. To send a secured message you must first login to your TD Bank online profile. You can do so by clicking here: http://bit.ly/1eaISlq. On the left hand side of the page, you should see and option to "Send a secure message" located in the “Message Center.” In your message, please include the dates and destination(s) you will be traveling. If you are not enrolled for Online Banking, you can do so for free here: http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY. You will need your Social Security number, TD Bank ATM/Visa debit card, your account number and e-mail address. Once you have successfully enrolled, you will have immediate access to your account(s).
By placing a travel notification, this will help us be aware if we see foreign transactions on your account. Also, please be informed that for your protection we will continue to monitor your card activity even when a notification is set. We also recommend carrying more than one method of payment while traveling, just in case you encounter any acceptance issues.

If you have any questions while you are traveling internationally, you can reach us at (856)-751-9000. Additionally, you can call collect from a landline at (215)-569-0518.
We hope this helps, Lory. Have a wonderful time and take care!
