I would rather open a joint student account with my older sister in her 20's than my mother, am i able to do this or am I required to do the accounts with my mom?

Good evening, Wanda and thank you for contacting us on TD Helps. We're glad to hear that you are considering TD Bank for your banking needs. We'll be sure to inform you on how to open an account.
If you are under the age of 18 and wish to open a Checking or Savings account, we do ask that an adult accompanies you, typically a parent or guardian, to one of our nearby TD Bank Stores to open a joint account. If you do visit us to open a Checking account, please keep in mind that both of you will need to provide a valid form of identification such as Driver's License, Passport, Military I.D. etc. and Social Security number. As you are a minor, acceptable forms of identification for minors includes; School ID (preferably with a picture), Passport, US Birth Certificate or Social Security Card. In some cases, an exception may be made to the adult that can sign for a minor when opening a joint account, but we recommend reviewing this with your local TD Bank Store ahead of time to confirm.
We invite you to take a look at our many different types of Checking accounts here: http://bit.ly/1aDaRqd or check out our Checking Selector Tool here http://bit.ly/KmmHe7 for help choosing a Checking account that is the best fit for you. At TD Bank, we also offer Savings Accounts for all of your saving needs! We recommend taking a look at http://bit.ly/1pJT9I9 for more detailed information on each particular Savings Account available. You may find it helpful to check out our customized Savings Selector Tool, found here: http://bit.ly/1hXi2wF.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us 24/7 at 888-751-9000 or stop by any of the TD Store locations in your area. To find out TD Store locations near you, please visit: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
