The president of the trade association is a Canadian resident, but we'd like the account to be in the US. Can you help?

Thanks for your interest in an account with us, C.
To open this account type, you must visit a TD Bank Store and there are a few things you'd need to bring with you. If your nonprofit account is going to have multiple signers, be sure to bring them with you for the account opening process. Please note all of the signers are not required to be present during account opening, however; the missing signers will not have access to the account until they have physically stepped into a TD Bank Store.
To add additional signers to the account at a different time, every signer present at the time of the opening must also be present when adding another person to the account. You also have the option to obtain multiple debit cards which you can provide to the other members until they are added as signers; although this will not allow them to view the account or request information, they will still be able to make transactions.
Those who are going to be signers on the account need to bring the following documents:
-A valid photo I.D. (Driver's License, Passport, Military I.D. etc.)
-Social Security number
For a non-resident alien opening a nonprofit account, you will need two valid forms of ID and a W-8Ben must be completed during the account opening process. Also, be sure to bring the Tax Identification Number for your business.
As a non-US Resident, you will need to bring two forms of identification with you. One form of I.D. must be a valid non-US Passport or Visa with photo and the second form of valid ID you may select from the list below:
- Employment ID with Photo and Signature
- State Issued ID or Driver's License with Signature
- Foreign Driver's License with Photo
- US Employment Authorization card with Photo, Signature and Expiration Date
- Alien Registration Card with Photo
- Permanent Resident Card with Photo
As you are looking to open a nonprofit, there are some additional documents you will need to bring with you. One of the listed documents is required for account opening but you can bring more than one if you desire: The documents used to form and register your business, the fictitious name registration or the Operating Agreement.
We also suggest reviewing the types of business accounts that TD bank has to offer. Our web page can even make a selection based on your needs with the Business Checking Selector tool: https://go.td.com/1lGeYmw.
Once you've decided on the right account for your needs and your business, you can stop by a TD Bank for assistance or contact us 24/7 at 888-751-9000 to schedule an appointment.
