Thank you for visiting TD Helps and sending us your question, Paula.
We'd like to inform you that we can provide options on how to maintain your account even from brazil. TD Bank offers Bill Pay, Online, and Mobile Banking. Check out: http://bit.ly/1lnLZE5 for more details.
If you still want to close your account, we would be happy to provide that information to you. If your sister is a signer or Power of Attorney on your TD Bank account, she can visit her local TD Bank store and request to close the account on your behalf. For TD store locations near her, please have her visit, http://bit.ly/TDStores. If you are the only signer on the account you wish to close, your sister will not be able to close it for you. However, we will be happy to provide you some options.
If your account is at zero balance, you may contact our 24/7 customer service department and have the account closed via telephone. To contact Customer Service from outside the United States, please dial direct 1-856-751-9000 or collect with operator assistance from a land line phone by asking the operator to dial 1-215-569-0518.
You can also send a Secured Message after logging in to your TD Bank online account here: http://bit.ly/1eaISlq. Please find the Customer Service tab and use the Send a Message link to submit your request. If you don't have online banking at this time, we can get you set up in no time. If you have an ATM/Debit Card and Social Security number, you can enroll your account in Online Banking at http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY. Once there, you will need to select "Personal" from the drop down box and complete three steps. First, you'll have to accept the Online Banking Agreement. Then, we'll ask you to enter in your personal information (Name, Social Security number, account number, etc.) and finally, you will have to set up three security questions. After those 3 steps are completed, you will have immediate access to your account(s) online. If you need assistance, please contact us at one of the numbers listed above. Upon proper account verification, we would be happy to help get you started.
If you still have a balance on your account, and wish to close your account, you can send a request to close your account by mail. Please mail your written, signed, and notarized request to your Home Store (the TD Bank Store where your account was opened).
Please be sure to provide your account number so we may issue you a check for the remaining funds in your account as well as your final statement. If you are unsure of which Store is your Home Store, take a look at: http://bit.ly/TDStores for hours and locations or please contact our Customer Service line at the telephone number listed above.
Please do not hesitate to write back if you have any other questions, Paula. Have a great one.
