Welcome to TD Helps, Joseph. We understand the need to be prepared for the future and we'd be glad to help you and your loved ones.
We understand not wanting to leave a burden for our loved ones and want to let you know that you can help them in finalizing your affairs well in advance.
One of the things you can do in preparation is to add a Beneficiary to your accounts. Once complete, you will remain the owner of the account until you pass. After which, the funds in the account will be disbursed to the individuals you have named as Beneficiaries. All they'll need is their valid photo I.D. and a copy of the death certificate.
If you've not already done so, to add a Beneficiary, you would need to visit a TD Bank Store and bring the name, address and, date of birth of each individual. You can find the closest location to you by visiting http://bit.ly/TDStores.
Even without a Beneficiary in place, your family can still finalize your affairs. They would need to be named the Executor or your affairs once you pass. Once a relative is named Executor, they would take this document with them to a TD Store, along with their photo I.D. (Driver's License, Passport, Military I.D. etc.), and finalize any remaining accounts in your name. It is recommended to contact the TD Store they plan on visiting to determine if any additional documents may be needed as they can vary by State.
If you have any further questions, we recommend contacting a TD Store near you. For TD Store locations and hours please visit http://bit.ly/TDStores.
We hope this helps set your mind at ease, Joseph and have a good day.
