Thanks for bringing your question to us here at TD Helps, Kate.
Generally speaking, your interest charge purchase refers to the balance you have yet to pay off for that current billing cycle. With that being said, these charges can be avoided as long as the balance is paid off in full.
If you have any other questions relating specifically to your Credit Card account, feel free to contact our TD Card Services Specialists 24/7 by dialing 888-561-8861 for assistance or as always, you're welcome to visit a TD Store. For Store hours and locations near you please visit http://bit.ly/TDStores.
Please understand that although we would like to assist directly, we do not have access to your account information as TD Helps is considered an unsecured site.
We hope this helps and please let us know if you need anything else. Have a good day.

when you say pay off the balance in full, do you mean the balance on the credit card or the minimum payment for that billing cycle?

Thanks for joining in on the conversation today, Jane. We'll be happy to clear up any confusion.
Typically speaking, the amount of interest that is assessed to a Credit Card is based on the balance left that you have not yet paid. Because of this, if you wish to avoid paying interest, you will want to pay off your balance in full by bringing the balance owed to zero.
If you would like to speak with someone about your Credit Card, we recommend that you contact us directly. Credit Card Specialist are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 888-561-8861, and after verification, they'll be more than happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have. In addition, you're also welcome to visit a TD Sore location. To take a look at Store locations and their hours please visit http://go.td.com/1f9DSJR.
We hope this helped, Jane. Enjoy the rest of your day.
