Great having you and thanks for writing in today, Scott. We're more than happy to discuss your question with you.
We'd like to let you know that it is possible to stop a pending debit on your account, but this does depend on the type of payment method you used for it.
Please note that any transactions made with a TD Bank Visa Debit card cannot be stopped once they have been authorized on your card. If your debit card purchase has already been cancelled with the merchant but is still pending, in that case you may be able to obtain a merchant release of the funds and we can review this possibility for you by calling us 24/7 at 888-751-9000.
If you'd like to stop an ACH/direct debit (a transaction using your routing and account numbers) and the item is still pending, this may be possible. Please keep in mind that certain ACH debits are ineligible to be stopped, including debits already posting to your account made via TD Bank Bill Pay. Before requesting a stop payment, we encourage you to call us at the number listed above so that we can review the transaction type with you. If you're sure that the debit was made using Bill Pay, feel free to reach us 24/7 at 800-493-7562 using Option 3. When calling, if the item is eligible for a stop payment we can place it over the phone for you.
Depending on your Checking account type, there may be a fee applied for a stop payment. Please visit: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt to view our current Fee Schedule.
In addition, you may also stop by your nearest TD Bank Store location to request the stop payment request in person. To find TD store locations near you, please visit, http://bit.ly/TDStores.
Hope this helps a bit, Scott and have a great evening.
