Thanks so much for writing into TD Helps today, Jaimi! We'll be glad to address your questions regarding account transfers and cross border accounts.
We're pleased to let you know that you can make transfers between your own TD Canada Trust accounts and TD Bank U.S. accounts for free if you have an account at each bank. If you prefer, you can speak with a Representative from our TD Cross Border Banking Support Line 24/7 by calling 877-700-2913. On the other hand, if you're transferring funds between these banks and one of the accounts is not yours, we have another option for you.
An efficient method would be wiring funds from the TD Canada Trust account to the TD Bank U.S. account. Click here: http://bit.ly/1hu8GcF for more information on how to send a wire from a TD Canada Trust account to a TD Bank account. Please note that fees may apply and click here: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt to view our Personal Fee Schedule.
In regard to opening a joint account with us, you are more than free to do so! Within TD Bank U.S., in order to open a joint account, both owners must be present at one of our Stores together to complete any necessary documentation, including your signature cards.
With that being said, if you're located in the U.S. you may begin an account here and have the other person added as an owner at a later time. We'd also recommend that you contact the TD Bank Store nearest you to determine if they can provide any other option to add the other signer if they are located in Canada. Please see http://bit.ly/TDStores to search for the convenient TD Bank Store locations near you, including lobby hours and their contact info.
We invite you to take a look at the accounts we currently offer by clicking here: http://bit.ly/1pJT9I9 for a list of our savings accounts. And for a personalized recommendation for a savings account click here: http://bit.ly/1vW1DvM, which can help you choose the best savings account for your needs.
We hope this helps and let us know if you have any additional questions, Jaimi! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
