I want to know if a deposit must be made when you are opening a student account and how long will it take to reflect on the account opened.

Hi Gabrielle. We're glad to hear from you again!
While an initial deposit is not required when opening a TD Student Checking account, it is recommended.
If the account is opened online and a deposit is done in the form of a transfer from another financial institution, it could take up to 3-5 days for your account to be credited.
If your initial deposit is cash, we do offer immediate availability on all cash deposits.
With check deposits, we generally provide $100 available immediately and the remainder made available the following business day. There are instances when an additional hold may be necessary. With new accounts, there is a possibility for extended check holds for the first 30 days after account opening. We recommend you review our Personal Account Agreement at https://go.td.com/1kb17UQ for a better understanding of deposit availability.
Please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any further questions. We're available 24/7 at 888-751-9000. You may also stop in to see us at any of our Stores. To find one near you, please click here: https://go.td.com/1nq31dc.
Have a great weekend, Gabrielle!
