Vacation planning is always delightful. We're glad to provide you with details in regard to using your debit card abroad.
Debit cards bearing the Visa logo are accepted at locations all over the world. However, please be sure to carry more than one method of payment while traveling, just in case you encounter any acceptance issues.
When you make an ATM withdrawal from an international location, please make sure that the ATM machine displays either the VISA or PLUS logo. International PLUS locations can be located on the Internet at www.Visa.com. You may use your TD Bank Debit Card to obtain a VISA Cash Advance if a compatible ATM is not available.
Many ATMs outside the United States limit withdrawals to checking accounts only. You can always use TD Bank Online to transfer money from your savings account to your checking account should you require more funds. Neither Visa nor TD Bank charges any kind of foreign transaction fees. However, non-TD ATM fees still may apply (see below).
The international currency conversion rate varies by country. In all foreign countries, the exchange rates at the ATM are always more current than the commercial rates because the transaction is a real time authorization. Each time a Non-TD Bank ATM is utilized, including international ATMs, TD Bank assesses an ATM surcharge of $3.00 per transaction. The fee will post the same day as the ATM withdrawal is made. You also may be assessed an additional fee (surcharge) at the time of your withdrawal. This fee is set by the machine owner and not associated with TD Bank.
