I received a call that left this message: "This is TD Bank's Fraud Detection Unit calling with an urgent message regarding potential fraudulent activity. This is not a sales call. Please call us anytime at 1-866-706-4810. As we have representatives available 24 hours a day seven days a week. Again that number is 1-866-706-4810. Thank you. Goodbye."

Welcome to TD Helps, Zesk.
Here at TD Bank, we do have a Fraud Unit who monitors our Customer's account activity for suspicious transactions. While we would like to assist you directly with your account, unfortunately, we do not have access to your personal information since this is considered an unsecured forum. To check the status of your account, please contact us 24/7 at 888-751-9000 and after account verification we'll be happy to assist.
You may also visit us at a nearby TD location for further assistance. To find a local TD Store, please check out: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
We look forward to hearing from you and enjoy your day.

Thank you for the reply Colleen, but I guess I should have been more specific with my question. Now I know you have a Fraud Detection Unit, but I still do not know if the call I received was actually from them.
I have to assume that since the number you gave does not match the number left in the message, I probably should not trust it, and you should be following up to see if that number is affiliated with TD Bank in any way.
I will instead contact the local office to see if the "potential fraudulent activity" has anything to do with me or any of our accounts at TD Bank.

Hello David, thank you for getting back to us.
We have a third party company who monitors TD Customers' debit card activities on behalf of TD Bank. When they detect any unusual or suspicious activities, they will reach out to our Customers at their telephone number on file directly to notify them as soon as possible. We are also able to confirm that the telephone number you provided in your original message (866-706-4810) belongs to this division. And the telephone number we provided in our original response (888-751-9000) belongs to TD Bank Customer Services department.
We hope this helps to clear thing us. Please feel free to get back to us if you still have any questions or concerns.
