Good question, Chelsea and thanks for connecting with us on TD Helps.
Currently TD Bank is not affiliated with any banks in Japan nor has any Store locations there; however, we are happy to inform you that you can use your TD Visa debit card at any locations that accept VISA across the globe! While you are away, you can also make ATM withdrawals from any machine that displays the VISA or NYCE logo. Please note; each time a Non-TD Bank ATM is utilized, including international ATMs, a non-TD ATM fee may apply depending on your account type. For more information on our fee schedule, please take a look here: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt. You also may be assessed an additional fee (surcharge) at the time of your withdrawal. This fee is set by the machine owner and not associated with TD Bank. We'd like to share with you that we do have some deposit account products either will waive non-TD ATM fees or receive unlimited ATM surcharge refunds. For more information, please refer to the fee schedule provided above.
At this time, TD Bank is not charging international transactions fees when making purchases with your TD debit card outside of the U.S.
