My daughter is studying abroad next year and we are trying to figure out how she can do banking while there.

Great to have you visit us on TD Helps today, Michelle.
Although we do not have TD Bank ATMs located in Tokyo, Japan; we'd love to discuss your daughter's options while studying abroad. Cards bearing the Visa logo are accepted at locations all over the world; however, please be sure to have her carry more than one method of payment while traveling, just in case she encounters any acceptance issues. Please note; fees may apply when using a non-TD ATM. We encourage you and your daughter to check out our current fee schedule here: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt, as it outlines any applicable fees that may come into play when using a debit card out of the country.
We'd also like to share with you a few tips to managing money when traveling, please check out: http://bit.ly/1fO8wKy, you and your daughter may also want to review our international travel tips frequently asked questions by clicking here: http://bit.ly/1ltwDDc.
Additionally, to avoid any interruptions to her TD Debit Card usage, we recommend placing Travel Notifications on her account. If she has not already done so, you can do so by calling our 24/7 Customer Service Line at 888-751-9000. If she's setup for Online Banking, another option would be sending a Secure Message using www.tdbank.com and requesting Travel Notifications to be added to her accounts. To send a Secured Message, she must first log on to her TD Bank online profile. You can do so by clicking here: http://bit.ly/1eaISlq. After she logs in, on the left hand side, you should see an option to "Send a secure message" located in the “Message Center." Please be sure that she provides her travel dates and destinations in her message.
If she is not set up for Online Banking, please have her check out: http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY. Keep in mind that she will need her account number, Social Security number and TD Bank ATM/Debit Card handy to complete the enrollment process. If she does not have the required information to set up Online Banking or you need assistance enrolling, she may contact us 24/7 at 888-751-9000. Upon proper account verification, we would be happy to help get you started.
Additionally, if your daughter needs to call us while you're outside the United States you may do so by dialing 856-751-9000 or collect with operator's assistance from a land line phone by asking the operator to dial 215-569-0518.
Hope this helps and have a great rest of your week.
