My mother had an ITF account, with me as the beneficiary. She died a few weeks ago. I have called customer service twice and nobody seems to have any idea what I'm supposed to do. I was told to "go to a branch" and bring a "power of attorney." My nearest branch is thousands of miles away. And I don't have (and shouldn't need) a power of attorney, since it is an ITF account. Is there an estate department that I can call directly that understands these issues? I would be happy to either retitle the account in my name or to close it and take the funds.

We're sorry to hear about your loss, Larry, and we're truly sorry that your calls to us didn't go as planned. We'll be sure to clarify.
Please know that the maintenance and closing of a trust/estate account is typically handled at a TD Store during lobby hours.
Since you've mentioned that you're not near a Store at this time. We recommend reaching out to a Location to discuss alternatives. You can review TD Stores and their information, including hours, by visiting here: http://go.td.com/1f9DSJR.
We hope to hear from you soon, Larry. Take care.
