Thanks for the visit, Zeight. We'd be glad to provide some information on how to open a joint account with us here at TD Bank.
In order to open a joint account, both owners must be present at one of our Stores together to complete any necessary documentation, including your signature cards. We are happy to accommodate our non-resident Customer and we can certainly have your fiancé as a Customer if they provide us with two forms of identification during the account-opening process. One form of ID must be a valid non-U.S. Passport with photo or valid non-U.S. Passport and Visa with photo and the second form of valid ID your fiancé may select from the list below:
- Employment ID with Photo and Signature
- State Issued ID or Driver's License with Signature
- Foreign Driver's License with Photo
- US Employment Authorization card with Photo, Signature and Expiration Date
- College ID with Photo
- Alien Registration Card with Photo
- Permanent Resident Card with Photo
That being said, you may begin an account here in the U.S. and have your fiancé added as an owner at a later time, when they may be in the States. We'd also recommend that you contact the TD Bank Store nearest you to determine if they can provide any other option to add her, given her location. Please see: http://bit.ly/TDStores to search for the convenient TD Bank Store locations near you, including lobby hours and their contact info.
We invite you to review our TD Bank U.S. Checking account options here: http://bit.ly/1oXjGgF, or use our Checking Selector at http://bit.ly/1vW1xnU. And our Savings products are listed here: http://bit.ly/1hzzhPT, or use our Savings Selector at http://bit.ly/1sxY9Rd.
If you do choose to begin the account individually at first, you may use the Open Account buttons at these links to begin your account application. Or, to open your account by phone, feel free to give us a call 24/7 at 888-751-9000 to speak with one of our dedicated Customer Service Representatives.
If your fiancé prefers to begin the account, they can either open an account with TD Canada Trust or with TD Bank U.S. To open a TD Bank U.S. account from their current location in Canada, your fiancé is welcome to call our Cross Border Banking team at 877-700-2913, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for assistance. Or, they can click here: http://bit.ly/1ishIab to begin an application for an account with TD Bank in the US. Either way, once it has been established, you'll both want to visit a TD Bank Store in the States to be added as a joint account owner.
If your fiancé prefers to open the account with TD Canada Trust, you can both take a look here: http://bit.ly/1w95LIc for information on adding a joint owner to an account there. To contact TD Canada Trust with any questions either of you may have, feel free to post your own question here: http://bit.ly/1kD3iFr, or see all the ways they can be reached here: http://bit.ly/1w1gWm8.
We hope this helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need anything else. Have a great day!
